Knitting and Music

So the other day I got to thinking about time travel. Random, I know.

Most people I imagine would go back in time so that they could change something. But this wasn't the first thing that came to mind. If I travelled back in time I would go to concerts haha.

My favorite musicians for the most part are no longer alive. And if they are, they are really old and no longer with the band or touring.

These are a few that I would go to (who are no longer alive or groups with one or all members no longer alive)
  • Woodstock (concert)
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • George Harrison
  • John Lennon
  • Janis Joplin
  • The Mamas and the Papas
  • Nirvana
  • The Grateful Dead
  • Bob Marley
  • Boston
  • The Moody Blues
To name a few, I'm sure there are ones I am missing. And this definitely does not include groups where all the members are still alive.
The reason I'm posting about music is because it has always been such a large part of my life. My dad held his headphones up to my moms belly before I was born. And since he passed away when I was four, it has been my connection to him.

It provides such inspiration. Many of my early pottery works were inspired because of music:

If you look closely in the photos you can see cd album covers hanging on the wall.

Music makes us happy, it can make us sad... It has the ability to spark an emotion. From this emotion, I derive creative inspiration. In fact I find that I attach memories to certain songs, and to reaccess this emotion, all I have to do is listen to the song.

Right now, this is my inspiration. It has helped me crawl out of my creative writers block. It wasn't until the other day, when I listened to the following song that I remembered when I can't find inspiration all I need to do is turn on one of my favorite albums.

These are my knitting thoughts for the day. What inspires you?

Open for Business!

Welcome to Misty Mountain Designs!

After much effort and dedication, the Etsy store is now open for business! As of now, you can find handmade items and in the near future you will find hand dyed yarns, hand made leather purse handles and hand made knitting needle cases.

This blog will be dedicated to all of my fiber adventures as well as tips and techniques that I will share. I have also extended this blog to connect with several social media sites. Firstly, my Pinterest boards reflect my personal aesthetic in which I derive my inspiration. Next, my Twitter account is where you can receive updates about the store and when new items are listed. And as with any fiber artist, Ravelry is where I spend most of my time, and is also where you can contact me.

Lastly, if you see anything on the blog that inspires you and would like to have created for you, please feel free to request a custom item in my Etsy store. As time moves on there will be more items listed but in the meantime please save my store to your favorites for updates.

A big thanks to everyone in my family who helped to make this happen and who sparked my interest in the fiber arts. I have big plans for this blog as well as my store and I cannot wait to share them with you!
